Therapeutic Massage – A deep and energizing massage, using deep tissue techniques and passive/active stretches to assist in releasing chronic tightness and ease aches and pains.
This treatment can also be gentle and deeply relaxing, suitable for people with illness/rehabilitation/elderly.
The massage is on a table, and uses a base oil. If lying on the front is challenging, the treatment can also be in a side lying position.
Thai Massage – A combination of stretches, deep pressure on trigger points and passive yoga postures that help to release muscle imbalance, fascia constraints and postural patterns.
The Thai Massage is fully clothed, on massage mats on the floor. You will need to wear loose comfortable trousers and top. There is no oil used.
Ruth also specialises in Pre & Post Natal Massage. There are many benefits to receiving massage throughout all stages of pregnancy. During the final trimester, Ruth uses shiatsu points to prepare the body for birth. After the birth massage can help with posture and assisting the body to heal.
Ruth developed an interest in anatomy during her dance training, this lead her to study Therapeutic Massage at the Sheffield Centre for Massage Training, in 2006. Allowing her to deepen her understanding of anatomy and physiology, whilst developing techniques and an individual style for treatments. Ruth went on to train in Pre & Post Natal Massage with Well Mother UK and Thai Massage with the Bristol School of Thai Massage. The Thai Massage training focuses on postural assessment and developing specific treatments for each person.
“I continue to attend CPD courses, to learn new techniques and further my understanding of anatomy. I believe this has allowed me to develop my own individual massage style, combining therapeutic touch, with deep tissue techniques, passive and active stretches and joint mobilisation”.
Ruth works with a range of illnesses and conditions. If you are concerned about the treatment or would like further information please get in touch.
