Our purpose is to support the health and well-being of people in the Blackdown Hills – particularly the elderly and isolated.
The idea for the Centre started with Dr Meads, then a GP with The Blackdown Practice. Dr Meads and a group of interested local people pioneered the Centre’s development in the old St Ivel milk factory social club building on the edge of the village.
The Healthy Living Centre opened in the summer of 2010. It now provides a home for several services for the elderly – including Cameo Club – as well as a growing number of complementary therapists, exercise classes and workshops.
Rooms at the Centre are often booked by people and organisations in and around the village for meetings, workshops and family celebrations. The Centre also holds regular art exhibitions.
The Blackdown Healthy Living & Activity Centre is a registered charity (No: 1154693) and is constituted as a CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisation).
